Become a member of SCPA by joining now. ALL WELCOME.
Help us to continue events such as ANZAC DAY, weekly YOGA classes, community working bees in the reserve, regular email and website news, and hopefully a Country Market coming in 2025.
The Strath Creek community now has a Heritage Entrance to the Pioneer Reserve. The entrance gives us the opportunity to record permanently the names of people and families who have in the past, or still do, have a connection with our village. The Heritage Wall was installed with the generous support of the Osborne family and hosts a number of family plaques already.
You can now apply to have a plaque made and installed for your family. An example plaque is shown below. A mutually suitable date can be arranged to unveil your plaque so that family members can be present.
The plaques are made locally and cost up to $500. SCPA will cover any additional cost and installation.
Appliication forms are available by contacting us at scpainc.1@gmail.com
I am excited to be running again at the upcoming election to continue to represent you in Parliament. What separates our campaign from those of the major parties is our people power – the ‘community’ in ‘community independent’!
Because of Indi’s independence, we have become a beacon to the nation for participatory democracy and genuine results that improve the lives of our people.
Hundreds of volunteers give up time in their busy lives to letterbox, door knock, staff market stalls and so much more. If you’ve been waiting for the right time – it’s now. Join the team that’s doing politics differently here.
A plan to unlock more regional housing
For many in my generation, home ownership was within reach. Now, people are working hard, yet access to safe and affordable housing is becoming less attainable.
This election, I’m fighting for a $2 billion Regional Housing Infrastructure Fund which would provide the funding regional councils urgently need to unlock news housing developments. In many of our towns development of new housing stock is blocked because we don’t have the water or sewerage infrastructure to service them.
Throughout this term of Parliament, I’ve been unrelenting in my advocacy for regional Australia’s housing needs, and if the people of Indi re-elect me in a few months’ time, I’ll be taking my renewed mandate for action to the incoming Government.
Demanding answers on regional connectivity
Before the 3G shutdown, regional communities in my electorate were told that no one would be worse off. But the reality is glaringly different for too many people in Indi who are left with no coverage.
I took this issue to the Parliament, asking a question of the Minister for Communications in Question Time. Watch my question and Minister Rowland’s answer here. I want the government to act and will be meeting with the Minister next week with details of the issues we are seeing across Indi.
An Evening with Bernadette Robinson
Bernadette Robinson is a renowned diva of Australian musical theatre. She’s coming to Wangaratta for a one-night-only performance to support my re-election campaign.
Bernadette has graced the stages at Australia’s premiere venues and London’s West End. Bernadette and I were nurses together at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne back in the early 80s, and she has generously offered to do this special performance in Wangaratta as part of my election campaign.
When: Friday, 7 March at 7:30pm
Where: Wangaratta Performing Arts & Convention Centre (Alpine MDF Theatre)
